On Wednesday morning, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor was admitted to Mumbai’s HN Reliance Hospital. He passed away on April 30. The actor had been diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and underwent treatment in the US for a year before coming back to India. His brother, Randhir Kapoor gave out a statement to the media on Wednesday, saying that he was hospitalised because his health started deteriorating.
The news of his demise was confirmed by Amitabh Bachchan on Twitter. He posted a heartfelt tweet saying, “T 3517 – He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !”
After his treatment in New York, he returned to India in September 2019. His wife Neetu Kapoor posted a ‘meal out’ picture with Rishi on Instagram in March 2020. She wrote, “Meal out after a long period becomes so special!! You value each moment, enjoy every dish!”
The extraordinary actor was last seen in a Netflix series, ‘The Body’. Earlier in 2020, he had also shot for a movie in Delhi.
Rishi Kapoor wanted to keep working. He had also signed up for the Hindi remake of the Hollywood movie ‘The Intern’ alongside Deepika Padukone. Deepika, who is also producing the movie, had recently made this announcement on social media.
